The Exhibition And Convention Centre
Versatility! This is the key characteristic of the architectural project chosen by the Valenciennes Métropole judging panel. The exhibition and conference centre will feature a sober design and blend superbly into its neighbouring environment, the Rives Créatives de l'Escaut site, dedicated to the digital industry.
Valenciennes Métropole opted for the architectural project proposed by the team from CHABANNE & Partenaires for the construction of the future Exhibition and Conference Centre, on the Rives Créatives de l’Escaut site in Anzin. It will be situated opposite the Serre Numérique, which is currently being built, and which will be home to the Rubika group and its three international schools of excellence for digital design.
The Exhibition and Conference Centre will be a new and very important facility for the whole area. A major facility for the business tourism sector, it will inject added dynamism into Valenciennes' economic and tourism sectors and more widely that of the region as a whole, which currently lacks facilities of this scale. It will also enable major industrial companies to organise "showcase" events to promote their know-how.
What are its key advantages?
- Flexible exhibition and conference areas (the hall and auditorium, etc.) which can be used either separately or in combination with one another.
- Leisure and social areas such as the terrace restaurant looking out onto the river Scheldt.
- The minimalistic styling of the building which is covered by a metallic "lace" roof, and which perfectly matches that of the other buildings of the Serre Numérique site.
- Local industrial heritage features have been retained such as the water tower from the Vallourec factory.
- The geothermal energy system supplying all of the buildings of the Rives Créatives development is accompanied by 600 m2 of solar panels.
