Tourism for the disabled

Since 2005, Valenciennes Métropole Tourism & Congress Bureau has been committed to an ongoing process of improving access.

The "Tourisme et handicaps" (tourism & disability) label was awarded for physical and mental disabilities in 2008 and renewed in 2014 until 2018 for the Valenciennes, Maison Espagnole reception site.

The two other reception sites at Condé-sur-l’Escaut and Sebourg are currently undergoing the labelling process but already have disabled access and a magnetic induction loop system for the hard of hearing.

Each year, Valenciennes Métropole Tourism & Congress Bureau takes part in the Journées Nationales Tourisme et Handicaps (National Tourism and Disability Days) and proposes a treasure hunt in Valenciennes town centre in addition to a "sensory tour" for people with all kinds of disabilities enabling them to discover Valenciennes through their five senses.
